#GivingTuesday 2017

Mark your calendars for #GivingTuesday! #GivingTuesday is a global giving movement that has been built by individuals, families, organizations, businesses and communities in all 50 states and in countries around the world. This year, #GivingTuesday falls on November 28. #GivingTuesday harnesses the collective power of a unique blend of partners to transform how people think about, talk about, and participate in the giving season. It inspires people to take collective action to improve their communities, give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they believe in, and help create a better world. #GivingTuesday demonstrates how every act of generosity counts, and that they mean even more when we give together.

#GivingTuesday is important for us at University Beyond Bars- we are always striving to support our students in prison, who themselves are striving for a better education, and ultimately a better future. Spencer Oberg, one of our former students who spoke at our Unlocking Dreams Fundraiser Gala this year, shared with us the importance of education and his future made possible through our programs:

"Thanks largely to UBB's investment of time and money in my education, the man walking out of the door is a vastly improved version of the one who heard that gavel drop. I have an Associate of Arts degree, a job waiting for me, and a plan to get my Bachelors in the next few years."
