UBB Interns Spotlight
We are excited to welcome two new Student Staff Associate interns to the University Beyond Bars team!
Nandina Babic is a senior at the University of Washington double-majoring in Law, Societies, and Justice & Political Science. Having grown up in a community where post-secondary educational opportunities were limited, she has used her experiences to assist and guide those that are similarly situated in their goals following high school, serving as a tutor with the Making Connections Program at the UW Women's Center and mentor with UW's Dream Project. These experiences inform her interest and passion in increasing educational opportunities for those most marginalized and were part of what drew her to UBB. After completing her undergraduate degree, she plans on attending graduate school to study legal institutions and prisoners' rights.
Marissa Therriault is an undergraduate at the University of Washington where she is majoring in Law, Societies and Justice and minoring in French Studies. She is planning on attending law school after graduating and hopes to pursue a career in public defense. Marissa is excited to be a part of an organization dedicated to social justice and supporting educational opportunities for disenfranchised communities.
We are thrilled to have these two join our team, in hopes to empower prisoners to fulfill their potential through communities of higher learning that transcend prison walls.
