Happy Holidays from UBB!

To all of our friends, family, neighbors, and colleagues, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas! We enjoy celebrating the holidays at University Beyond Bars because we view the holiday season as a season for giving - we love giving back to our students at MSU and WSR by providing them diverse educational opportunities, as well as the tools like tuition, textbooks, and supplies to help them earn their degrees and certificates. The holiday season also gives us the opportunity to connect with all of you, and to share our progress on our programs, projects, and campaigns for the past months.

We recently got a letter in the mail from one of our former students, Spencer Oberg, who shared with us on his progress and goals after graduating from our programs here at UBB, as well as who he was thankful for:

"It shook me little realizing I was about to transfer to the next stage of the journey. Thankfully I had awesome people help pave the way for me. UBB enrolled me to start an econ class as soon as I arrived. David [Oberg's mentor] brought me onto the team at BFY Food Group the very next week. Mom and Dad made sure I had everything I needed ... And a bunch more people deserve honorable mention, too!"

We enjoyed reading Spencer's beautifully-written letter, and appreciate his kind words to us. It is moments like this that remind us how grateful we are to be doing what we are doing everyday at University Beyond Bars - to empower our students in prison to fulfill their potential through communities of higher learning that transcend prison walls.

With the holiday season in full swing, we would like to remind all of you about our year-end campaign! Our goal is to raise $50,000 to help our students earn an education while in prison.
